Most dentists use porcelain, resin or gold for their crowns. But we are proud to use zirconia for our crowns and make them in-house, which saves you money and time.
In non-traditional circumstances or for special aesthetic cases, we will still use a lab in order to provide you the best possible result.
Zirconia crowns are extremely durable and can be shaded to just about any color to match the color of your tooth.
Because of its durability and strength, zirconia crowns also require less removal of tooth structure when the tooth is being prepared. Making zirconia crowns in-house allows us to maintain the highest level of quality control and pass the savings on to you.
What is the Process of Getting a Crown?
Crowns always start with an impression of the tooth, and then we design the crown in special software. Then the crown is milled out of a solid piece of zirconia, heated in a furnace to shrink to proper size, then stained to a particular shade, and heated again to finalize the color. The crowns are then cemented onto the tooth as if nothing ever happened!
